Shedding the Critic

A poem titled Shedding the Critic that reads: Within the chaos, a harmony will rise, Revealing the beauty beneath the disguise. I will honor my values and nurture my soul, Until my mind and body both become whole. In being honest with myself about how I feel, I take the first step in learning how to heal. I may not know why I feel what I do, And not knowing is okay too. I know these feelings won’t last, And soon my sky won’t be overcast. I am ready to let my walls come down, So that I may walk upon a higher ground.

This is part of the poem “Shedding the Critic” from my upcoming book, “Metamorphosis: Unveiling My Inner Light.”

The book is about the journey of self-compassion and self-discovery, acknowledging that healing requires venturing into the depths of darkness. By facing the suffering within and nurturing their body, mind, and soul, I aim to reclaim control over my life.

This introspective poem delves into the struggles of the human mind, grappling with the relentless presence of an inner critic. The poem reflects on how this critical voice fuels feelings of depression and anxiety, leaving me feeling isolated.

With newfound clarity, I now understand that my thoughts and emotions do not define my true self. Instead of resisting my internal turmoil, I approach thoughts and feelings with gentle curiosity, recognizing the wisdom within.

With courage and determination, I am on a journey of self-awareness and healing, seeking to become whole once more through the transformative power of embracing my true self.
